"Mon cœur..." Lupin murmured, pressing himself against Jigen's back and placing a kiss on the gunman's naked shoulder.
Jigen immediately tensed up.
"Don't."
"What, you're not in the mood for snuggles on this fine Sunday morning?" the thief asked, but didn't even attempt to move away.
"Just... Don't say that."
Lupin frowned.
"You usually like it when I speak French. At least judging from your reactions," he added in a sly tone. He put a hand on Jigen's hip and slid it slowly towards his groin.
Jigen couldn't suppress a shiver.
"I just don't like that specific expression," he answered through gritted teeth.
"But it's so romantic. You're literally my heart!"
"Well, I don't like it, okay?" Jigen snapped. He extricated himself from Lupin's embrace and sat up.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, I just need a smoke," he replied, reaching out for the packet lying on the nightstand.
"You just woke up."
"When has that ever stopped me?"
Lupin sat up as well and gently removed the cigarette from Jigen's lips, earning himself a glare from the other man.
"Please, tell me what's wrong."
"Nothing's wrong, just forget about it."
"Come on, Jigen-chan, you know I worry about you."
Jigen sighed and turned slightly away from him.
"It's just... It makes me feel like one of your girls of the week."
Lupin stared at him.
"One of my what?"
"Don't play dumb. Whenever we get to a new place, you pick up a pretty girl to entertain you for a few days, play the 'French charm' card, smother them in Mon cœurs and Chéries and shit, and then merrily hop off to the next city. It's like watching you collect souvenirs, but instead of cheap trinkets, you collect women." Jigen hunched his shoulders, wishing he was wearing his hat. "I'm not a fucking souvenir."
"Well, you're definitely not a woman," Lupin pointed out. Jigen was about to growl something back, but the thief didn't let him. "And you'll never be a souvenir to me," he added, moving closer and wrapping his arms around him from behind. "I hope you know that."
Jigen gradually relaxed and placed a hand on Lupin's forearm.
"I still don't like that expression," he eventually said, voice a low rumble.
"I'll find another term of endearment, then. One that will sweep you off your feet."
Jigen chuckled.
"Idiot."
"You charmer."
Lupin had a huge grin on his face as he turned Jigen around and kissed him.
